Luke practises in all fields of Chancery and commercial litigation.

More specifically, his practice includes property, trusts, wills and probate, Inheritance Act claims, company issues, such as section 994 (formerly 459) applications and winding up petitions and personal insolvency. Luke also undertakes work in relation to general contractual and commercial disputes, debt actions, insurance and reinsurance and tortious matters, such as professional negligence and passing off claims.

Luke has litigation experience in the County Courts, the High Court and the Court of Appeal, in arbitration and in mediation. His practice also includes advisory work as well as drafting commercial agreements, leases, property grants and all forms of Chancery instruments, including trust deeds and wills.

Luke has a particular interest in the law of personal property (common law and equity) and in claims involving chattel torts and bailment.  Arising out of this field, he has experience in several cases relating to art and antiquities and has acted for private individuals and states in claims (domestic and international) involving title disputes to cultural objects and claims involving auction houses.

    Luke is a significant contributor to the new (3rd) edition on Palmer on Bailment, having written a new chapter on the proprietary effect of chattel leasing ("Transmissible Leases of Chattels", chapter 24). Luke also contributed to a new chapter on "Practice and Procedure in Bailment Claims" (chapter 43) and revised parts of the previous edition of the book on "Bailments and Third Parties" (chapter 36) and the material on exclusion clauses and third parties in "Exclusion Clauses and Unfair Terms" (chapter 38).

    Luke is a contributor to the current Encyclopedia of Forms and Precedents, Sale of Goods (volume 34), and will be contributing to the forthcoming edition of this title due for publication in 2010.

    Luke read laws at University College, University of London, graduating with first class honours. He was included in the UCL Dean’s List for 2000 and awarded the Bentham Prize for Jurisprudence.
