Richard de Lacy takes up key position in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

We congratulate Richard de Lacy QC on his appointment as a partner of Ogier and head of the firm’s Cayman litigation practice, in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.

His appointment takes effect from 19 March 2012.

Richard joins Ogier having developed a distinguished reputation in commercial litigation and insolvency through cases in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas.

On 16^th November 2011, Richard Wilson, Andrew Child and Fenner Moeran gave a seminar on Trust Litigation to the Bermuda branch of STEP. The topics covered were mistake, legitimate expectation and the TMSF v. Merrill Lynch case. The event was well received and 3 Stone Buildings have been invited to return in 2012.

3 Stone Buildings held its inaugural Global Litigation Conference on 14 November 2011 at the Parker Meridien Hotel, New York City. The conference was attended by leading practitioners from England, the USA, Bermuda, the Caribbean and the Channel Islands. ??The conference brought together topical issues relating to international hedge-fund and trust litigation and revolved around a central theme of ‘tainted property’. The conference materials and speaker biographies can be downloaded here.

The conference concluded with a drinks reception at the 3 Stone Buildings New York Office at Rockefeller Plaza.

Oxford Workshop on Pitt v. Holt and Futter v. Futter

On 21^st October 2011, Matthew Slater, Gilead Cooper QC and Richard Wilson joined other practitioners, judges and leading academics at Somerville College Oxford to participate in a workshop following the Court of Appeal decisions in Pitt v. Holt and Futter v. Futter [2011] EWCA Civ 197.
